"Mathematics of the
21st century:
the vision of Alexander
June 15-19 2015
University of Montpellier

Alexander Grothendieck died  November 13, 2014 at 86 years old. For the mathematical community, he was a visionary whose work revolutionized mathematics in general, and more particularly algebraic geometry. His influence, yet extremely noticeable in the current mathematical research covers many areas ranging from geometry to number theory, through functional analysis.

His person is doubly related to the university of Montpellier: first as a student from 1947 to 1949 and as a professor in our mathematical department in 1973 until his retirement in 1988. During this second period, he has continued his visionary work through several very important manuscripts.

This conference will thus be dedicated to recent developments in mathematics that convey the ideas of A. Grothendieck and constitute his legacy.
